In the opposition dugout
Micky Mellon was appointed manager of Oldham on a three-year contract in October. He has previously achieved promotion on five occasions with three different clubs, leading Fleetwood to the National League title in 2012 having taken them up to the fifth tier two seasons earlier. He then plotted Tranmere’s return to the EFL in 2018 - part of a back-to-back promotion which saw him guide them to League One.
Line-up
Not quite as certain about this after the Aldershot result last night, not sure there’ll be as many changes as this, but this was my stab at the team:
Pretty sure that was Festus Arthur among the travelling Town party that’s just arrived at the stadium. The defender has just been recalled from his loan at Southport.
We need to talk about Aldershot
Extraordinary circumstances in their win last night - the Gateshead keeper is sent off at 0-0 and they have no sub keeper on the bench so were forced to put an outfield player in goal. After which Kwame Thomas netted the all important goal for Aldershot, which Town could really, really, really have done without. That result puts an awful lot of pressure on The Shaymen now not only to overtake Aldershot again to night but then get a result at Eastleigh on Saturday. Pressure which wasn’t really there this time last week.
