A Rastrick man has recruited his friends and family to come together to raise cash for Overgate Hospice.

A 64-page book ‘For The Love of Overgate’ is filled with poems from Adrian Riley, from Rastrick, other Hospice volunteers, his friends and family.

Mr Riley volunteers as a therapist at the Elland Hospice and came up with the idea back in 2019.

He said: “I know that it’s been a struggle for the Hospice during the pandemic so my idea really flourished during lockdown.

"I wanted it to be more about just my poetry. I wanted it to be a community venture and poetry from people associated with the Hospice so it could instantly have more appeal.”

Nikki Scholey, Community Fundraiser said: “We want to thank Adrian for coming up with the idea of the book. It’s filled with beautiful poems and photographs. We want to thank everyone who has contributed.

"It’s been a struggle for us up at the Hospice with our main fundraising events cancelled this year so to know people in our community are supporting us really does mean a lot.”

‘For The Love of Overgate’ is available to buy priced at £8 from www.overgatehospice.org.uk, the Hospice reception or order your copy from the Fundraising team on 01422 387121.
