WHITE Rose Archers held their open longbow sherry shoot at Walsden Cricket and Bowling Club.
As always it's was a well attended event with 36 archers, mainly from Yorkshire, in attendance.

The tournament is a western which is shot over distances of 60 yards and 50 yards - with four dozen arrows at each distance - and ends with an Agincourt volley where all archers stand on the line together and on the instructions of the field captain are told to nock their arrows, aim and release.

This is an impressive sight with all the arrows released at the same time and the arrow nearest the centre of the gold is the winner of the volley.

Organiser was Keith Shooter, field captain duties fell to Derek Eastwood, club chairman Ian Wright and Lord Paramount Noel Lawrence were in attendance.

A marvellous lunch and tea was provided by the ladies of the cricket and bowling club.

Volley: Steve Tilson

Best Gold: Sue Jones (Bridlington)
